About Wall Trim Lab
A small collection of visual tools for planning decorative wall trim.
What the planners do
Wall Trim Lab turns wall dimensions into an evenly spaced layout and a basic cut list. The first two tools cover board and batten and picture frame molding. They use transparent geometric formulas and display the assumptions beside the results.
How this project is made
This is an early prototype maintained by Rafael Quirós Valderrama. AI assists with development and explanatory content. The calculation logic is checked against independently worked examples and invalid-input cases. We do not claim professional carpentry experience or on-site validation of your project.
The interactive diagrams are calculated from your measurements. They explain proportions and spacing; they are not an installation specification.

Current scope
One rectangular wall, uniform trim widths, and equal gaps or frames. Both tools can check one rectangular window or outlet, including a design buffer, and compare layouts by changing the gap or column count. They check the trim itself, so the empty center of a frame is not treated as a solid panel. The search does not notch trim or move rails, and does not include multiple obstacles, doors, or stock-cut optimization. Measurements stay with this browser tab while you move between these tools and guides, when browser storage is available. Reloading starts a fresh example. Print your plan to keep a copy.
How to use the results
Start with the actual wall dimensions and trim face width, then try a few gap or frame counts. Use the diagram to compare proportions, the cut list to check piece lengths, and the extra-material figure as a footage allowance. Consult the measuring guide if a label is unfamiliar.
Changing a calculator value updates the drawing immediately. You can switch between the tools and the guide without losing your current measurements. Reloading starts a fresh example.
